
Salma Hayek Pinault born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jimenez; September 2, 1966)[3][4][5[5]] is a Mexican and American actress and film producer. She started her career in Mexico with starring roles in the telenovela Teresa (1989-1991) as also in the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995), for which she earned an Ariel Award nomination. From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), Dogma (1999) and Desperado (1995) were but among her many Hollywood credits. Hayek's performance as Frida, the painter, in Frida (2002) the film that she also co-produced in the film, made Hayek the first Mexican actor to win the Academy Award [6]. The film also won her an Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek played the lead in the action-oriented Once Upon a Time in Mexico films over the next years , and shifted her focus to producing.
