He was usually picked on in school and, being an avid Spider-Man follower, he saw himself as Spider-Man's alter ego, Peter Parker. The school he attended was Priory Preparatory School and City of London Freemen's School. He also attended The Central School of Speech and Drama and the University of London. In 2004, he came to the realization that he no longer interested in pursuing business, he became more involved in acting. The actor began his professional profession in 2005, when he was cast in a British television series called "Sugar Rush". He played his first leading role two years later in "Boy A" as a troubled kid who is trying to restart his life after an experience in prison. In addition, he was in "The Social Network," in the role of the lead as well as in the film "The Amazing Spider-Man." With the ability to fill a multitude of roles his role was chosen as the leading actor in the historic film "Silence" in 2016. The actor has been awarded numerous prizes like the BAFTA Award for Best Actor, Tony Award and A.A.C.T.A. Award for "Best Actor following his performance as the character "Hacksaw Ridge." Along with these awards, he won many Oscar nominations, and also the chance to perform with actors such as Sam Worthington, Campbell Scott and the creator of Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire.
